Why 5 on 5 Basketball?

Benefits of 5 on 5 Basketball:

1. More teams can play in a single day

2. Watching a regular basketball tournament sitting for 4 hours to watch two games is passive. People who love the game can get involve instead of watching.

3. The rules of 5 on 5 basketball eliminates bad officiating which is a common complain.

4. In regular tournaments, teams play an average of 3 games in eliminations but not all the players will get the chance to play. In 5 on 5, teams also play 3 games but all the players will get the chance to play.

5. Players can build a team very easily.

5 on 5 Basketball Games Tentative Schedule

Registration is still open. Exciting basketball like a regular game. You have 3 points, 2 points for regular shots and free throws with penalty.  If you have 5 in a Team with uniforms you can join. If you feel you are being left out in the bench in previous tournaments, now is the chance to prove yourself because you are in the game the whole time. So easy, no fuzz, no need to find a big sponsor just play the game.

For starters, we will accept teams with players as tall as 5′-9″ below or if you are taller then you must be 35 above, but anyway submit your Team Line-up and we’ll see. This is a short tournament but the next one will be open category. Let’s see how it goes.

5 on 5 Basketball Games

Rules:

1. All games are self officiated. The two teams involved should mediate questions of judgment. If teams or players cannot agree on the validity of the foul then the player “contesting the call” will shoot a free throw. If the free throw is made the foul is nullified and that team will get the ball. If the free throw is missed the foul shall stand and the “fouled” team shall retain possession. An Arbiter or assisting referee may be provided.

2.  Alternating possession on all jump ball situations will be in affect.

3.  Substitutions. Substitutions may be made after a basket. A Team may composed a standard 5 or 6 players.

4.  Game Length: The first team to score 30 points wins. Half Time is observed when any team scores 15 or 15 plus points and change court will proceed after a 1- Minute rest.

5.  The Three Point Shot is in effect behind the arc and 2 points will be awarded for a shot made within the arc.

6.  Each team will be given 5 team fouls each half. Two(2) Free throws will be awarded on penalty. Ball possession remains if no free throw is converted. Ball possession to the opposing team if 1 or 2 free throws are converted.

7.  A maximum of Eight Teams can join. The top 2 teams with the highest total Win/Loss Points and winning margin after 2 playing days plays in the championship.  To break tie, win over the other. 3rd Day for placing and last game for Championship.

8. Team uniforms is a must.

Hope wins Championship in Overtime

Rey Katipunan drove court to court to score for  Wildcats to tie the score 112-112 in regular period as Don Mordeno could not get an open space to receive the ball.

In Overtime, Wildcats ran into foul trouble utilizing 3 players in the final moments after Mordeno fouled out and Wilmar Canapi had to go back to the bench due to injury.

Ronnel Sugnan failed in his last ditch attempt to tie again after his 3 point try to finish at 126-123.
